Pearl Harbor

On the fourth day of our trip we spent the morning at Pearl Harbor. It was a sobering trip. We took the self-guided audio tour, watched the movie about the attack on Pearl Harbor, and took the tug boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial. It is a memorial built over the sunken USS Arizona. The sunken boat is a tomb to over 1,000 men who died December 7, 1941.

You can still see parts of the boat above the water.

They say it still leaks 2 quarts of oil per day. They call it the tears from the USS Arizona

The most emotional part of the memorial is the wall where inscribed are the names of all those who are entombed in the ship. There is very little to say about Pearl Harbor that can describe the place or the occurence for which the harbor is known. I only hope the United States of America will be mercifully protected by our God who loves us, despite the choices others make against us or we make against ourselves.
